This week, we are excited to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! On Monday, we had a surprise visit from Lucky the Leprechaun. When we walked into our classroom that morning, we discovered it was a bit messy, and there was a note from Lucky saying he lost his shoes! As we tidied up the classroom, we found his shoes hidden among the mess. After we returned from recess, his shoes mysteriously disappeared! Instead, he left us a magical hat filled with leprechaun rocks and some special leprechaun water. We used the leprechaun water to clean the rocks, and to our amazement, we found a shiny coin in the middle of one of them! We also took some time to learn about the life of St. Patrick. We discovered that St. Patrick used the shamrock to teach people about the Trinity. To remember this important lesson, we colored our own shamrocks.
For the rest of the week, we explored the fascinating topic of rainbows. We learned that a rainbow is created when light passes through a prism, which breaks the light into a beautiful array of colors. We discovered that water can act like a prism too, which is why we sometimes see a rainbow when it’s raining. We let our imaginations run wild as we wrote about what we might find at the end of a rainbow. We also described a person who is worth more than a pot of gold! To wrap up our week, we conducted a fun science experiment using Skittles to create our very own rainbow. What a wonderful way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!
